SUB-TEST FOUR: ARTIFICIAL LANGUAGE

Instructions

Read the vocabulary and rules of the artificial language given below. Then study the sample sentences. Do not try to memorize the vocabulary or forms, but consult them freely while translating the sentences on the right.

Translate as many of these sentences as you can in the time allowed. Translate the sentences in order 1, 2, 3, etc. Do not skip any sentence. If a complete sentence is omitted, no credit will be given for any work done beyond that point, but if a particular word bothers you, go on to the next word.

RULES

Plurals are formed by adding “o.” Only nouns and pronouns have plurals.
Examples: we — ipo, them — ikato
Past time: place “isk” before the verb.
Example: pleased — iskploska
Future time: place “tab” before the verb.
Example: will please — tabploska
Nouns: swap the verb’s final “a” for “ec”.
Example: pleasure — ploskec
Adjectives: swap “a” for “iv”.
Example: pleasant — ploskiv
Adverbs: swap “a” for “um”.
Example: pleasantly — ploskum
