The intersection number is the number of dots — that's obvious, but there is a pattern for the position of the dots, which would be 1, 2, 3, and 4 in a counterclockwise direction. When there are 2 in the first figure, there are 2 line intersections, so the dot goes in the second square, and so on. So, E. Honestly, this item could be improved, but the logic is nice.
