The MMPI-2 is one of the most widely used and researched instruments in clinical psychology. It consists of true/false statements about attitudes, feelings, physical and psychological symptoms, and past experiences.
Your answers are scored against a large normative sample to produce gender-specific T-scores on validity indicators (VRIN, TRIN, L, F, K and others), the 10 clinical scales (with K-correction), and the content, supplementary, Harris-Lingoes, Restructured Clinical (RC) and PSY-5 scales.
What the MMPI-2 Measures
The 567 true/false items are scored onto several families of scales, each compared with a large normative sample of U.S. adults:
Raw scores are converted to T-scores (mean 50, SD 10) using separate male and female norms, with a K-correction added to five of the clinical scales. A T-score of 65 or higher (about the 92nd percentile) is the conventional threshold for a clinically significant elevation.
