This task is designed to test the speed at which people process relations. A relation describes how one thing stands in connection to another; for example, one shape containing another. In theory, this relational processing speed meaningfully explains performance on speeded cognitive tests that are not strictly perceptual in nature. Moreover, this task could reflect what people commonly call "reasoning speed". This task surely measures attentional control to some extent, but hopefully this is minimal.
This task is inspired from a 3-minute grammatical reasoning test developed by Alan Baddeley in 1968. It was originally developed to assess cognitive impairment caused by sleep deprivation, drug use, and other stressors. It seems to be a decent task for quickly benchmarking your current cognitive performance.
Retake this task until your scores plateau, since your best score is the most important one and the best reflection of your ability.
